2009 Hawthorn Football Club season
2009 season
The 2009 season saw Hawthorn approached the season with many of the players physically underdone , due to post seasons operations . By the time the season proper began the Hawks were without seven of their premiership players, Campbell, Croad, Ellis, Gilham, Ladson and Lewis were unavailable recovering from injuries, and Shane Crawford had retired. Couple with injuries in the opening games, the team never seemed to settle, the selectors relied on blooding new players. The Hawk's finals hopes are over, losing to Essendon in an elimination.
